The breath taking, natural beauty of Blackhouse Forest Estate is the closest thing to the fairy-tale setting any bride could wish for.

The focal point for the wedding party is the lovingly restored Barn, complete with drystone walls and panoramic windows. The Barn capacity of 50 or venue for 50 guests for a wedding ceremony and celebration.

From January 2022 our original white croft house can sleep 10 guests in beautifully appointed accommodation, with bespoke furniture crafted locally from Blackhouse woodland sustainable timber. As with the rest of the estate, the croft house is fuelled by hydroelectric biomass, and water for the estate is taken from the hills. The renewable energy systems create an entirely self-sufficient retreat from the pace of everyday life.

The Blackhouse Forest

The area is steeped in myth and legend and has contributed to the cultural and literary life of Scotland itself.

Just a mile from our Wedding Barn is the ruin of the Blackhouse Tower, originally dating to the 11th Century, once owned by the ferocious Black Douglas, loyal supporter of Robert the Bruce
